Garden Route 4 Day 3 Nights Itinerary
Day 1: Cape Town to Oudtshoorn (via Route 62)
Depart Cape Town and journey along the scenic Route 62, passing charming Klein Karoo towns and stunning countryside. Stop for an optional lunch in the quaint village of Barrydale before continuing to Oudtshoorn, the “Ostrich Capital of the World”. Enjoy a relaxed evening in this unique town surrounded by desert mountains and Karoo charm.
Day 2: Cango Caves & Wildlife Encounters
Start your day with a delicious Karoo breakfast before venturing into the otherworldly Cango Caves — an underground wonder of stalactites and stalagmites. Afterwards, experience thrilling encounters at the Crocodile & Cheetah Park, or even ride an ostrich! The day ends with a scenic drive to Knysna, your base for the next two nights.
Day 3: Tsitsikamma Forest & Knysna Lagoon
After a leisurely breakfast, explore the lush Tsitsikamma Forest and the awe-inspiring Storms River Mouth, a natural masterpiece of cliffs, ocean, and canopy. Later, unwind with a boat cruise on the serene Knysna Lagoon, gliding toward the famous Knysna Heads. Return for an overnight stay in Knysna.
Day 4: Mossel Bay, Hermanus & Return to Cape Town
Bid farewell to Knysna and travel west along the coast. Visit Mossel Bay, home to the Dias Museum and the historic Post Office Tree. Then pass through rolling Overberg farmlands toward Hermanus, a coastal town famous for Southern Right Whale sightings between June and November.
